Boxer Jerwin Ancajas rewards himself with a new ride from last bout's purse
Jerwin Ancajas may have lost his world title, but he at least got himself a new ride thanks to the fight purse he earned from fighting Argentine Olympian Fernando Martinez.
Ancajas, 30, dropped his IBF world super flyweight championship in his tenth defense of the title against Martinez via unanimous decision last February.
Though he went home to the Philippines without a belt around his waist, he nevertheless returned with a pocket full of hard-earned cash.
“We were there to look around and then he saw this SUV. He hopped in and did not want to leave until he buys it,” Ancajas’ trainer and manager Joven Jimenez told GMA News Online.
“I told him the money is yet to clear but he kept insisting. In the end, I had to call the bank for an early release of the money so he can buy the ride.”

Buy it he did. As soon as the funds were cleared, Ancajas immediately made the purchase and drove away in his SUV.
Jimenez also shared that it was a second-hand vehicle but Ancajas, who owns a few more vehicles back at home, simply fell in love with the SUV the moment he saw it.
