Olympian Nesthy Petecio advances to semis of SEA Games women's featherweight to secure at least a bronze

Boxer Nesthy Petecio advanced to the women's featherweight semifinal stage in the 31st SEA Games on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old pug defeated Kay Thwe Nyein of Myanmar in their quarterfinal bout, 5-0, to assure herself of at least a bronze medal in the tournament being held at the Bac Ninh Gymnasium in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Petecio is now a win away from a chance at bagging the gold medal anew after falling short during her 2020 Tokyo Olympics campaign where she bowed to Japanese foe in the finals round.
