Buboy Fernandez on Pacquiao gunning for a world title again: 'It's possible'

Manny Pacquiao's best friend and trainer Buboy Fernandez said the retired eight-division champion is still capable of making another world title run should he decide to make a comeback in professional boxing.

The 43-year-old Pacquiao is scheduled to face South Korean martial artist DK Yoo in a six-round exhibition in December. He retired last year after he lost to Yordenis Ugas and before he announced that he was running for President in the last election.

"People have to see that he can make a comeback as long as he is in the right condition especially now that we do not have a world champion," said Fernandez.

"That is one of the signs that we still need him but it depends on his decision if he wants to return (to professional boxing) atop the ring."

Pacquiao, who retired with a record of 62-8-2 with 39 knockouts, last competed in the welterweight division currently ruled by IBF, WBA and WBC titleholder Errol Spence Jr. and WBO world titleholder Terence Crawford.

And while Pacquiao is yet to decide if he is ever going back to the pros, Fernandez believes that the door is open for his fighter to make a comeback against one of the champions in the 147-pound division.

"I cannot tell for sure, but it is possible. Only Manny can decide. Why not, so we can have a world champion again. We do not have a world champion now. It is different when it is Manny Pacquiao fighting," Fernandez said.
