Pinoy boxer Dave Apolinario knocks out Buthelezi to claim IBO title

Unbeaten Filipino prospect Dave Apolinario claimed the IBO flyweight title following a stoppage over Gideon Buthelezi earlier today at the International Convention Centre in East London, South Africa.

After feeling each other with jabs in the opening stanza, Apolinario threw and landed a monstrous left straight that sent the South African crashing to the canvas. Down and badly hurt from the punch, Buthelezi was unable to beat the count, earning the Filipino a first-round knockout win.

The win improved Apolinario’s perfect record to 17-0 with 12 knockouts while Buthelezi dropped to 23-6 with 5 knockouts.
