Fernando Martinez promises all-out war in Ancajas rematch
IBF world super flyweight champion Fernando Martinez promises an action-packed bout in his second encounter with Jerwin Ancajas this Sunday, October 9 (Philippine time) at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Martinez, 14-0 with 8 knockouts as a pro, threw more than a thousand punches and battered Ancajas en route to snatching the belt via unanimous decision last February. He plans to bring the heat on fight night once more but expects a tough contest with the Filipino.
“You can expect the same thing once again. It is going to be an all-out war once again. We are going to put on a show, it is going to be a great fight. The fans are going to get exactly what they want on Saturday night,” Martinez said.
“Is it going to be hard? You bet it is going to be hard. Being the champion has given me a responsibility that I take with love and humility. I am trying to keep my feet firmly on the ground, be focused on the fight.”
Ancajas, for his part, admitted that he was not in tip-top shape on their last outing. He vows to be more ready for Martinez this time but the Argentinian Olympian told that he is ready for anything that Ancajas brings to the table this weekend.
“I have a plan A and I have a plan B. I am ready for absolutely anything. I promise you we are going to put on a great show,” Martinez stated.
