Jerwin Ancajas's comeback on hold as MP Promotions looks for fight in the US
Jerwin Ancajas's comeback fight in the Philippines has been put on hold as MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons is looking to have him fight in the United States instead.
Ancajas, 33-3-2 with 22 knockouts as a professional boxer, was supposed to face Songsaeng Phoyaem on February 12 at the Imus Sports Complex in Cavite but is now looking to make his ring return in the US in the first quarter of 2023.
According to Gibbons, he is currently working to bring the team back to America and have Ancajas train together with former world champion Marlon Tapales and super flyweight contender Jade Bornea in Las Vegas.
Ancajas, the 31-year-old former IBF world super flyweight champion, lost his strap in his tenth title defense against Fernando Martinez and is coming off back-to-back defeats against the latter.
Though a date, venue, and opponent are yet to be determined, Team Ancajas is already looking to fly to the US next week to start their training camp.
