Devin Haney to defend undisputed title against Vasyl Lomachenko
One of the biggest fights that can be made in boxing is a go as undisputed champion Devin Haney is set to defend his WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF world lightweight titles against former world champion Vasyl Lomachenko on May 20 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, USA.
"The King's Gambit," Bob Arum's Top Rank made the surprise announcement earlier today.
The 24-year-old unbeaten Haney is coming off back-to-back unanimous decision wins against the ex-unified world lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. Melbourne, Australia. Known for his slick boxing style, Haney holds a perfect record of 29-0 with 15 knockouts.
The 35-year-old Lomachenko, meanwhile, is on a two-fight winning streak since he lost to Teofimo Lopez in 2020. A crafty southpaw touted as the “Matrix”, Lomachenko is currently ranked as the no.7 best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and holds a record of 17-2 with 11 knockouts.
