Vincent Astrolabio wins title eliminator with a TKO over Kaikanha

One-time world title challenger Vincent Astrolabio is headed for another world title shot following a technical knockout win in his WBC bantamweight title eliminator against Nawaphon Kaikanha this Saturday at Suamlum Night Bazaar in Bangkok, Thailand.

Astrolabio dictated the early going, controlling the fight with his jabs and combinations to the head and mid-section. His uppercut was effective too, catching his foe several times in the first half of the contest.

Kaikanha's best round came in round 6, backing Astrolabio to the ropes and unleashing power shots to the head and body after landing a clean left hook on top. Astrolabio boxed and countered from rounds 7 to 10 while Kaikanha was unrelenting with his attack.

Kaikanha kept the pressure in round 11 but eventually got caught with a clean right hand that sent him crashing to the canvas. He managed to beat the count, only to get swarmed by Astrolabio prompting the referee to stop the contest.

The win improved Astrolabio's professional record to 19-4 with 14 knockouts and got him a crack at the WBC world bantamweight title currently held by Alexandro Santiago.
