Marlon Tapales vs. Naoya Inoue officially announced for December
The highly-anticipated super bantamweight showdown between two-division champion Marlon Tapales and Japanese pound-for-pound star Naoya Inoue has been officially announced for December 26 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
Tapales, the reigning WBA and IBF world super bantamweight champion, has a chance to make Philippine boxing history should he overcome the WBC and WBO world super bantamweight champion Inoue.
Holding a professional record of 37-3 with 19 knockouts, Tapales will be the first undisputed Filipino champion in history should he manage to pull off a mega upset over the Japanese pound-for-pound boxer.
Coming off an upset over Murodjon Akhmadaliev last April, Tapales is currently training in the USA and will hold the final stage of his training camp in Baguio City next month.
