Kyonosuke Kameda spoils John Riel Casimero's return
Kyonosuke Kameda spoiled John Riel Casimero’s return to the ring after scoring a clear unanimous decision Saturday evening at Bishkek Arena in Kyrgyzstan.
Casimero pressed forward in the early going while Kameda boxed cautiously, measuring the Filipino’s power. The Japanese fighter began to let his hands go in round two, firing counters as Casimero continued to come forward.
Kameda’s jab and straight right hand dictated round three, forcing Casimero to chase while struggling to find any rhythm.
By the middle rounds, Casimero appeared winded and hittable, although he found brief success in a mid-ring exchange in round five. Kameda stayed composed, sticking to his boxing and picking targets each time Casimero loaded up.
From round seven onward, the fight seemed like target practice for Kameda. Casimero charged in but remained unable to land a telling punch. He fought with urgency in the final round only to end up bloodied while Kameda boxed sharply until the final bell.
All three judges scored it for Kameda, who improved to 16-5-2 with 9 knockouts. Casimero dropped to 34-5-1 with 23 knockouts. The official scores were 99-92, 98-92, and 97-93.
