Marcos, First Lady attend ‘Thrilla in Manila' 50th anniversary commemoration
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos attended on Wednesday evening the 50th anniversary commemoration of the “Thrilla in Manila” at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The Presidential Communications Office posted on Facebook photos of Marcos and the First Lady attending the event with former senators Manuel "Mar" Roxas II and Manny Pacquiao, the only eight-division world champion in boxing.
Marcos also met with some of the boxers who participated in the event.
Malacañang earlier issued a memorandum circular encouraging all government agencies to support the Philippine Sports Commission as part of the preparations for the 50th anniversary commemoration of the “Thrilla in Manila," which featured heavyweight champions Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier on October 1, 1975.
