PH boxers bring home four golds from Serbia, Netherlands tourneys

Filipino boxers won four gold medals in recent competitions in Serbia and the Netherlands.

In the 63rd Belgrade Winner Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing tournament held last May 13 to 17, Clark Vicera and Riza Pasuit ruled the men’s 50kg and women’s 57kg respectively.

Vicera claimed gold after defeating Salih Samet Oruc of Turkiye, 4-1, in the final match. Pasuit, meanwhile, had a unanimous decision victory against Ace Asude Ediz of Turkiye as well in the finals.

Paul Julyfer Bascon also copped a bronze in the men’s 60kg division of the event.

Days later, Vicera won the gold and defeated Ruslan Bedynchenko of Ukraine in the finals of the the Eindhoven Box Cup via unanimous decision.

Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Carlo Paalam also won gold in the men’s 55kg division after defeating Abdul Burton of England in the finals.
