Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch postponed; Pacquiao's camp cites issues with Mayweather camp
The supposed rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been postponed indefinitely, with the Filipino boxer's camp now eyeing an early 2027 date for the bout.
According to Pacquiao's camp, “a volatile mix of federal lawsuits, scheduling overbooks, and financial gridlock completely surrounding the Mayweather camp” are among the reasons for the postponement.
Pacquiao maintained that the bout should be an official fight rather than an exhibition. Mayweather, in March, called the fight an exhibition.
"The contract that we signed is a real fight. I wouldn't fight [in] an exhibition," Pacquiao said. "That's the contract that he signed. He has to remember that. I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him."
The rematch was originally supposed to be held in September 2026.
Meanwhile, Mayweather's supposed fight against Mike Zambidis has also reportedly been called off. Mayweather also has an exhibition bout with Mike Tyson scheduled.
