Mark Magsayo books clash with Andres Cortes on Garcia-Benn card 

Former world champion Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo will face unbeaten American Andres Cortes in a 10-round lightweight bout on September 12 (US time) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The matchup will take place on the undercard of the highly anticipated Ryan Garcia-Conor Benn showdown.

The former WBC featherweight world champion enters the contest with a 29-2 record, while Cortes boasts a perfect 25-0 resume. Both fighters last saw action at Zuffa Boxing 5 in April.

Magsayo made a statement in his Zuffa Boxing debut, stopping former title challenger Feargal McCrory via fifth-round technical knockout.

Meanwhile, Cortes, who fought in the main event, earned a unanimous decision victory over Eridson Garcia.

The 31-year-old Bohol native is coming off a strong run since moving up to the lightweight division and has repeatedly expressed his belief that 135 pounds is his natural weight class.
