Alex Eala, Oliynykova praised by Ukraine Embassy after US Open match
The Ukrainian Embassy in the Philippines lauded Filipino tennis sensation Alexanda Eala after her victory against the Kyiv-born Oleksandra Oliynykova.
Eala bested Oliynykova in the US Open Round of 64, securing the win in the second match, 6-1, 6-4.
“Tennis that brings us together! A great match at the US Open between the Philippines’ Alexandra Eala and Ukraine’s Oleksandra Oliynykova,” the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of the Philippines said on a Facebook post.
“Congratulations to Alexandra Eala on her victory, and wishing her the very best in the next round! Our sincere support goes to Oleksandra Oliynykova — thank you for the spirited fight and wonderful performance. Bravo to both athletes!” it added.
The Embassy also shared the message in Ukrainian.
Despite the loss, Oliynykova extended her gratitude to the Filipino fans who watched their match. She said that many fans had come up to her to give her kind words.
Oliynykova said that she also received many messages of support online, even sharing a greeting in Filipino.
“Mahigpit na yakap sa aking mga tagahanga sa Pilipinas! Napakainit ng inyong pagmamahal, napakatapat, at talagang kahanga-hanga kayo!” Oliynykova said on Instagram.
