Liga Pilipinas: Pagadian beats Baguio, 63-49

MANILA, Philippines РThe Pagadian Explorers banked on Mark Yee to dominate the Baguio Victory, 63-49, late Sunday night in the final of the Misamis Oriental leg of the Liga Pilipinas at the Xavier University gym in Cagayan de Oro City. Yee posted 15 points and 11 rebounds on his way to being chosen as the Best Player of the Misamis Oriental stop, according to a statement issued on Monday. Pagadian's defense-focused game helped them dominate the boards, 45-36, and limit the Victory to just 28 percent from the field (16 of 58). The same stiff defense forced Baguio to 17 turnovers. Host MisOr Meteors salvaged a third spot finish with Eric de la Cuesta leading the offense with his 18 points and downing the Trace Laguna Stallions, 82-77. AT the People's Coliseum in Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur, the Cebu Ni̱os defeated the Ilocos Sur Bravehearts, 98-78, to win the Ilocos Sur leg. Taguig bagged the third spot with a 79-68 win over Quezon. Winners of each leg will be awarded 10 points going to the playoffs. Five points will go to the runnerup and three points to the third placer.
