MANILA, Philippines - One of the country’s top sports officials said he believes two Filipino taekwondo jins have a “good chance" at winning Olympic gold. Philippine Sports Commission chairman William Ramirez based his evaluation after personally seeing Toni Rivero and Tshomlee Go train in Seoul. “The way they’ve been training, I would say that they have a good chance to shoot for an Olympic gold," he said Monday. Go and Rivero, who competed in the Athens Olympics in 2004, have been training vigorously in Korea for more than a month. “I’ve watched them trained by the best taekwondo masters in Korea. I’ve watched them fight. We couldn’t even find time to talk to them because they were practicing nearly around the clock," Ramirez said. Rivero reached the women’s semifinals of the under-67kg class repechage, but lost out to a Greek fighter. The two are expected to be back in the country next week, Ramirez revealed. – GMANews.TV
