MANILA, Philippines – The plea for unity in RP billiards fell on deaf ears after the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines stressed on Tuesday that it will not be sending players to the World 10-Ball Championship. The World Pool Association recently called on the BMPAP to settle its differences with the rival group Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines and not to boycott the World 10-Ball slated September in Manila. The BMPAP will hold the World 9-Ball tournament in November. Cofounder Perry Mariano said the BMPAP would not back down from its original position. “Unless the issues we’ve been fighting for are resolved, we will not participate in that tournament. It’s all about principle," Mariano told scribes in the Philippine Sportswriters’ Association Forum at Shakey’s UN Ave. – GMANews.TV
