MANILA, Philippines – Manyo Plange never got further than the Olympic round of 16. Apparently, the Ghanaian boxer’s victory over Harry Tañamor was as good as it got. Plange lost to Paulo Carvalho of Brazil 21-12 in the second-preliminary phase in the 48kg category over the weekend. Tañamor, the lone Filipino boxer in Beijing, lost to Plange 6-3 in the opening day of boxing competition last Wednesday. Carvalho then fell to Yampier Hernandez of Cuba in a lopsided 21-6 count Tuesday. Hernandez is scheduled to face underdog Serdamba Purevodj of Mongolia in the light-fly semifinals on Friday. The winner is most likely to face reigning world champion and hometown favorite Zou Shimin in the final round on Sunday. – GMANews.TV
