UP wins UAAP cheerdance championship

MANILA, Philippines – University of the Philippines won the championship of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines cheerdance competition Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum. The UP Pep Squad, which used a tribal theme, took home the top prize worth P195,000 and mp3 players for each individual participant. The University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe, UP’s main rival, finished second and settled for P120,000, while the Far Eastern University Cheering Squad placed third and earned P80,000. UST was the champion for five straight years until UP broke the Salinggawi’s streak last year. Ateneo, which finished fourth, was followed by Adamson, UE, De La Salle and National University. – GMANews.TV
