SOFIA, Bulgaria – The Bulgarian athletics federation says Bulgarian 1,500-meter runner Daniela Yordanova has been suspended for two years for doping. Yordanova tested positive for testosterone and related substances from an out-of-competition sample given in June in Sofia. The ban could mean the end of Yordanova's career. The 32-year-old athlete finished fifth at the 2004 Athens Olympics and fifth at the World Championships in Valencia in March. In the last two years, several top Bulgarian athletes have been caught doping, including 400-meter runner Vanya Stambolova, high jumper Venelina Veneva, 800-meter runner Teodora Kolarova and hammer thrower Andrian Andreev. – AP
