Women's sepak takraw saves RP's day in Asian Beach Games
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines will collect its seventh bronze medal as the women's sepak-takraw team is headed to the semifinals of the regu category in the inaugural Asian Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia. Deseree Autor and Sarah Jane Catain defeated Thailand 21-2 and 21-3 Thursday to advance to the semifinals scheduled on Friday. The men's team didn't make it to the medal round after it lost to Brunei 21-17 and Thailand 21-5. Overall, the Filipino campaign Thursday was a disappointment. In men's beach volleyball, Rhovyl Verayo and Jonrey Sasing lost 21-16, 21-15 to Indonesia. In women's action, Michelle Carolino and Suzanna Roces fell 21-12, 21-9 to Thailand and the tandem of Nerissa Bautista and Jusabelle Brillo failed 21-16, 21-13 to Kazakhstan. - GMANews.TV
