PBA: Trade restrictions lifted; 6-6 imports mandatory in 'Fiesta' tilt
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Basketball Association scrapped the rule restricting trades, giving teams a free hand again to engage in any type of player deals. The PBA board junked on Tuesday the "Restricted Trading List system" which was passed initially to prevent teams from consummating one-sided trades. The teams agreed to dismiss the rule, citing that uneven trades still proliferated even if the rule was in effect. Under the RTL, which was in effect for two years, each team was to put one player - supposedly its best - on the list. The "RTL players" couldn't be traded unless they were swapped for the players who were also on the list. Also, the board decided that all teams will be required to play one import with a height of six-feet-six in the Fiesta Conference. The previous rule called for the two worst teams to play two imports and the eight others imports of unlimited height. - GMANews.TV
