PBL: Jazul, Casio provide spark as Toyota snaps three-game skid
MANILA, Philippines â It turns out, RJ Jazul and JV Casio was the only spark Toyota needed in their ongoing campaign in the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) 2009 PG Flex Linoleum Cup. Jazul and Casio combined for five three-pointers in the final period as Toyota snapped out of a dizzying three-game slide to finally enter the win column after scoring a 91-86 win against the Bacchus Energy Warriors Thursday night at the Jose Rizal University gym in Mandaluyong City. Jazul and Casio alternated in hitting shots from downtown to outsteady the Energy Warriors in a fourth-quarter hitting spree that saw both teams combining for 49 points. The Warriors suffered their second straight loss despite draining 16 triples, which is a far cry from their horrible 5-of-45 shooting from beyond the arc in their last game. Jazul and forward Erick Rodriguez paced the Sparksâ scoring with 16 points each while Casio, Jonathan Aldave and John Wilson combined for 36 markers to provide support. Pari Llagas scored 18 to lead Bacchus, which is playing in the PBL with the core of the University of the East Red Warriors in its roster. Paul Lee and Val Acuña tallied 17 and 14 markers. The Energy Warriors missed the scoring savvy of guard James Martinez and big man Hans Thiele who was limited to a combined 13 points while the sweet-shooting Marc Cagoco of JRU was held scoreless. â GMANews.TV
