On Que: Angelo richest Pinoy in '08 Asian golf tour
MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que finished the Asian Tour Order of Merit as the richest Filipino golfer after he earned $150,561.19 (P7.07 million) in 2008. That amount was good only for 40th place overall, the lowest OM finish by a Filipino since 2004. It was the fourth straight year Que finished inside the top 50 in the Order of Merit but the first time he breached the $100,000 mark since he turned professional in 2003. Que, who qualified to play in the 2008 British Open, won his second Asian Tour title after he ruled the Philippine Open early last year. He took home $47,550 for the win. In 2004, Que's second season, he placed 56th, the best by a Filipino in the Order of Merit. In 2007, he finished 50th. Juvic Pagunsan, who was the richest Filipino on the Asian Tour the last two seasons, slipped to third place among his countrymen after he earned $126,502.25. Overall, he placed 51st, a far cry from his seventh-place finish in his rookie year in 2006 and 17th place in 2007. Artemio Murakami was second among Filipinos with $131,367.30, easily Murakami's highest one-year total. Mars Pucay ($107,367.61 - fourth) and Antonio Lascuna ($106,495.34 - fifth) completed the top five. Overall, Murakami was 47th, Pucay 54th and Lascuna 55th. By placing in the top 60 in the Order of Merit, Que, Murakami, Pagunsan, Pucay and Lascuna will get another Asian Tour card (a chance to participate) for 2009. Frankie Miñoza, a top-30 finisher the last three seasons, slipped to no.85 overall after he earned only $47,4783.24. It was the first time he didn't reach the $100,000 plateau in three years. - Adrian Flores, GMANews.TV
