FEU in easy win over Adamson in UAAP women’s volleyball

MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University scored an easy 25-15, 26-24, 25-21 win over Adamson Thursday to cap off the first round hostilities of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 71 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan. Rachel Anne Daquis had 13 points while Shaira Gonzalez and Macaila Morada poured in 12 markers each in a surprisingly easy victory by the defending champion Lady Tamaraws during the rematch of last season’s championship series. FEU joined De La Salle with a 6-1 win-loss slate at the end of the first round but the Lady Tamaraws hold the top spot in the standings due to a superior tie-breaker. Adamson dropped to third with a 5-2 record. In other games, University of Santo Tomas beat Ateneo, 25-19, 25-17, 25-17. Aiza Maizo had 19 points while Maika Ortiz had 14 for the Tigresses, who improved to 4-3 after a slow 1-2 start in the tournament. Standings: FEU 6-1, DLSU 6-1, Adamson 5-2, UST 4-3, Ateneo 4-3, UE 2-5, NU 1-6, UP 1-6. – GMANews.TV
