MANILA, Philippines – Adamson ace pitcher Cloiene Muyco schooled University of the East as the Lady Falcons coasted to a 7-0 win in the resumption of the UAAP softball elimination Tuesday at the University of Santo Tomas Field. Considered as the finest softball pitcher in the country right now, the 21-year old Muyco, who is also playing her last year in the collegiate league, displayed an array of pitches to hold UE to just one hit in the five inning contest. It was Adamson’s seventh straight victory and the Lady Falcons only need to win their last three games to complete a 10-game sweep and reclaim the title they lost to University of the Philippines last season. Muyco also had five strikeouts with rival pitcher Jelly Macabalo spoiling what would have been a no-hitter with a single to center in the top of the fifth inning. “Muyco has been playing very well for us since she really wants to win the title in her final playing year with the team," said Adamson coach Ana Santiago. Catcher Marjory Respondo went 2-for-2 at the plate capping her performance with a two-run homerun in the fourth while Elna Parohinog singled to left to score Anavic Jugos to end the match vie the mercy rule. In other games, UST used a 10-run second-inning rally to score a 14-8 decision against defending champion UP while Ateneo escaped squeezed out a 9-8 triumph against rival La Salle. The win firmed up the Tigresses hold of second place while handing the Lady Maroons their third straight loss to join UE and Ateneo with 3-4 records. – GMANews.TV
