Tamaraws down Stags, win Fr. Martin cage title

MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University banked on the inspired plays of Marc Barroca, Ryan Garcia and Cameroonian Pipo Noundou to beat San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 81-70, and win the 4th Fr. Martin Collegiate Open Cup Sunday at the St. Placid Gym in San Beda. Barroca, co-captain of the Gilas Pilipinas National Team that targets an Olympic slot, led the way with 24 points for the Tamaraws, who never dropped a game in the tournament. He got helping hand from Garcia and Noundou, who contributed 18 and 10, respectively. “We are happy to win here but we have not proven anything yet until we can win the UAAP championship," FEU coach Glen Capacio said. Barroca took over the Tamaraws’ third quarter rampage to race to a 53-36 tear then teamed up with Noundou and Garcia to hold off the Stags’ rallies down the stretch. –GMANews.TV
