Muntinlupa, ILLAM collar Little League baseball plums

MANILA, Philippines - Muntinlupa and International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM) stamped their class on their respective foes in the junior league (13-14) and senior league (14-16) baseball competitions of the 2009 Little League Philippine Series in Manila. Muntinlupa overcame Tanauan, 12-1, in the junior league title game while ILLAM trounced Tanauan, 15-5, for the senior league crown Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium. Miguel Salud dominated the mound for Muntinlupa, allowing only three hits as the match ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. ILLAM routed Tanauan with seven runs in the second inning after a 0-2 deficit in the second inning. Muntinlupa and ILLAM will represent the Philippines in the Asia Pacific qualifiers for the 2009 Junior League and Senior League Baseball World Series. ILLAM and Rizal already captured the senior league and big league (16-18) softball titles Saturday. –GMANews.TV
