ILLAM most dominant team in RP Little League series

MANILA, Philippines - International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM) stamped its class as the dominant team in the 2009 Little League Philippine Series, winning four of the eight titles at stake in the competition. The ILLAM bets snared two more titles at the end of the tournament to complete their domination of the 2009 series. ILLAM took the little league (11-12) softball crown after beating Muntinlupa, 10-2, and snagged the junior league (13-14) softball crown after a 5-2 win over Bacolod City-East at the Luneta Park. All in all, ILLAM won four division titles, having seized the senior league (14-16) baseball and softball diadems earlier. ILLAM beat Tanauan City, 15-5, in the senior league baseball title match while its softball counterparts downed Bacolod City-West, 7-2. In the other title games, Tanauan City thwarted ILLAM’s attempt to capture its fifth crown with a 3-2 win in the big league (16-18) baseball championship game at the Rizal Stadium while Cavite nipped Palayan City, 12-11, for the little league baseball crown at the Luneta Park. All winners will be representing the Philippines in the Asia-Pacific qualifiers of their respective divisions in venues still to be determined. –GMANews.TV
