MANILA, Philippines – Chris Timberlake used to play second-fiddle to first conference finals most valuable player Mark Barroca in Oracle Residences’ rotation. But now the 5-foot-7 Fil-Am guard proved he can also take over games for the Titans. With the gutsy Barroca – along with Oracle teammates Mac Baracael, JR Cawaling and RJ Jazul – playing in Las Vegas with the Philippine developmental squad, Timberlake starred for the Titans’ last two wins. Barroca’s absence was hardly felt by the Titans as Timberlake – in Oracle’s last two wins – averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and three steals per game. Timberlake’s numbers earned him the PBL PG Flex Unity Cup’s player of the week for the period of April 21 to 25. He even tied Paul Lee’s season-high six steals in Oracle’s 79-72 win over Licealiz Shampoo last Saturday that earned the Titans the first semis berth. Timberlake will be a marked man when the second phase of the season-ending tournament begins next month. – GMANews.TV
