Go Teng Kok still with us, says POC spokesman

MANILA, Philippines – Controversial sports leader Go Teng Kok will remain an ally of Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose “Peping" Cojuangco, Jr. This was stressed Wednesday by POC spokesman Joey Romasanta after text messages spread that Go was resigning as special adviser to Cojuangco. “It’s not true," Romasanta clarified. “He (Go) was here with us and he himself said that it’s not true and was wondering who orchestrated the text message." According to the text messages, Go was supposedly quitting his post and severing ties with Cojuangco since his recommendation to solve the leadership dispute at the wushu association was thumbed down by the POC head. While reiterating that everything’s A-OK at their camp, Romasanta said everybody on Cojuangco’s POC board is free to go if he so wishes. “Wala namang pilitan ang samahan dito. Everybody working here is doing it in his free will," Romasanta said. Sources, however, revealed that Go got peeved when former Wushu Federation Philippines (WFP) president-turned secretary-general Julian Camacho reportedly stood him up in their meeting last Sunday intended to resolve the WFP dispute. Go is reportedly pushing for the POC recognition of Alvin Tai Lian, the former WFP vice president who heads the group that contests the presidency with Camacho’s ally Tan Shi Ling. According to reports, Go had recommended that Camacho and Tan Shi Ling serve the association for the next six months before giving up their positions to their rival group, a condition which was unacceptable to Camacho. But Cojuangco sided with and gave the POC's blessing to the group of Camacho, his staunch ally at the POC. Go failed to answer calls when sought for comments and clarifications. – GMANews.TV
