San Sebastian relied on an explosive effort by Jimbo Aquino as it trounced Mapua, 101-65, Monday to clinch the first Final Four berth in the 85th NCAA basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City. Aquino erupted for his season-high 30 points spiked by four triples to send the Stags to their 13th straight triumph, a streak that surpassed the 12 consecutive wins posted by the 1997 San Sebastian squad that swept its way to a five-peat feat. San Sebastian thus moved five wins closer to a possible sweep, which would catapult it straight to the best-of-three finale. âWeâre happy we achieved our initial goal, which is to make it to the Final Four," said San Sebastian coach Ato Agustin. âNow the next step is to try to figure out how we could win our last five games." Rookie Calvin Abueva and Ed Semira added 13 points each for the league-leading Stags, who remain ahead of four-peat seeking San Beda, (12-1), Jose Rizal (11-2) and Letran (10-4). The Cardinals fell to their 12th setback against a win. - GMANews.TV
