The Purefoods TJ Giants promptly brought the Barako Bull Energy Boosters back to earth. With main men Kerby Raymundo and James Yap hitting their strides, the Giants escaped the upset ax with a 92-77 rout of the Energy Boosters in their KFC-PBA Philippine Cup duel Friday at the Astrodome.

Raymundo and Yap had 17 each, typifying Purefoods’ high 34-for-67 shooting from the field. The Giants also pounded their opponents off the boards, 46-35, as they notched their second win in three outings after losing to Barangay Ginebra the last time. Don Allado added 13 markers and Roger Yap 12 for Purefoods. The Energy Boosters were looking for a perfect follow up to their surprising 81-73 victory over the Coca-Cola Tigers last week. But they never really got into the groove once the Giants were able to impose their will on them, eventually trailing by eight at the half and 68-59 entering the final period. Rookie Ogie Menor showed the way for Barako Bull (1-2) with 14 points while four others also finished in double figures for the team. – GMANews.TV
