Lordy Tugade broke out of his scoring slump and dumped 16 points in the fourth quarter in San Miguel’s 93-77 dismantling of Rain or Shine in The KFC-Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup Wednesday at the Big Dome.

Tugade missed his first four shots but waxed hot in the payoff period as the Beermen broke out of a 58-all deadlock after three quarters. “Lordy is one guy who always pays extra attention to his game. Even after we’ve finished practice, he still spends time shooting the ball, so that speaks well of this player," said Tanquingcen. The Alaminos, Pangasinan native Tugade capped his 16-point explosion with an alley hoop play from an Arwind Santos pass giving San Miguel an 85-70 spread with 3:18 left in the game.

The Beermen struggled early in the match and trailed most of the way. But they unloaded 35 fourth-quarter points with nearly half of it coming from Tugade. Five other players finished in double figures for San Miguel with Mike Cortez, Dondon Hontiveros, Santos, Dennis Miranda and Danny Seigle submitting 14, 13, 12, 11 and 10 markers. The win improved San Miguel’s record to 3-2 good enough for sole possession of fifth place while the Rain or Shine dropped their fifth straight game to remain as the only team which has yet to win in the season-opening tournament. – GMANews.TV
