RP sports mourns death of Olympian dribbler Pacheco

Philippine sports is in mourning following the death of Olympian Eduardo Pacheco due to heart attack Wednesday night. He was 73. Pacheco was one of the preeminent basketball players in the 1960s, donning the RP colors in the 1960 Rome and 1964 Tokyo Olympics as well as the 1963 Manila World Championship, the 1962 Jakarta Asian Games and the 1966 Taiwan Asian Basketball Confederation championship. He was voted the most outstanding basketball player in 1962 by the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA). Pacheco remained involved in sports until his death, having been one of the longest-serving consultants of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). “Philippine Sports suffered a big loss with Ed’s passage," PSC chairman Harry Angping said. “The PSC community extends our deepest condolences to his family." His remains lie in state at the Loyola Memorial Park in Guadalupe, Makati. Interment will be announced later. - GMANews.TV
