La Salle beats Adamson for solo UAAP women’s volley lead

Defending womenâs champion La Salle clinched the solo lead with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-20 victory over erstwhile co-leader Adamson in the 72nd UAAP volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City. Jacqueline Alarca, last yearâs Best Blocker, had 10 hits while Stephanie Mercado, Abigail Marano and Joanne Siy added eight points each as the Lady Archers chalked up their third straight triumph.

Ateneo made it a three-way tie for No. 2 as it clobbered National University, 25-18, 25-20, 25-21. Earlier, University of the Philippines finally made it to the winnerâs circle with a 25-16, 25-15, 20-25, 25-23 edging of University of the East.
