Far Eastern University avenged its loss to University of the East as the Tamaraws pulled off a straight set 25-15, 25-22, 25-19 Saturday at the start of the second round of hostilities in the 72nd UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City. The win put the Tams in sole possession of the top spot with a 7-1 slate while dropping the Red Warriors fourth place with an even 4-4 card.

FEU was controlled the entire match and was poised to wrap up the contest, holding a 12-5 lead, but allowed UE to inch closer in the crucial stages of the third set. The Warriors trimmed the lead to 16-14 behind the combined efforts of Alvin Vigil and Alvin Padilla. But the wards of coach George Pascua could not be denied of the win with Joshua Alcarde sealing the Warriors’ fate with a booming spike against the outstretch arms of UE’s Homer Lauresta, who led the Recto-based six with seven points, and Benchard Pedrano. "Gumawa kami ng necessary adjustments at awa naman ng Diyos sinuwerte kaming makabawi sa kanila (We made some adjustments and thank God we managed to beat them)," said Pascua, who was a member of the 1995 FEU champion team under former national mentor Kit Santos.
