Far Eastern University and University of the Philippines kept their hopes of making it to the next round alive upon trouncing their respective foes in the 72nd UAAP volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan. Monique Tiangco scored 13 points while Cherry May Vivas added 12 points as the Lady Tamaraws repeated over National University, 25-20, 25-18, 25-17.

With the victory, the Lady Tamaraws gained a share of the fourth spot with Ateneo de Manila with identical 5-4 win-loss slates. The UP Lady Maroons also duplicated their first-round win over University of the East, 25-16, 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, to move up to solo fifth with a 4-6 mark. The Lady Warriors absorbed their ninth straight defeat after winning their opening-day game. In the menâs division, the FEU Tamaraws moved within striking distance of pacesetting and reigning titlist UST Tigers after nailing their eighth win over hardfighting UP, 25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 10-25, 15-11. Rodolfo Labrador had 20 points while Nestor Molate added 19 as the Tams stayed just a win off UST (9-1) with their 8-1 slate. In the other menâs game, Ateneo de Manila defeated the Adamson Falcons for the second time around, 27-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-21. The win enabled the Blue Eagles to join the UP Maroons at third and fourth spots with four wins against five setbacks. The Falcons dropped to their seventh loss after nine games. â GMANews.TV
