Philippine Basketball League PBL) commissioner Chino Trinidad would let history judge him when it comes to his contributions to the league and Philippine basketball in whole. "It will be self serving if I give out details on what I did for this league. All the commissioners who had served and will serve the league will be doing his best for the good of the PBL. So it is proper for history to decide the contributions we made in this league," said Trinidad.

Trinidad, 42, already informed the PBL board that he’ll be resigning as league commissioner at the end of the season-opening conference. He formally informed PBL board chairman Ding Camua, who called his resignation as retirement. Trinidad, also a sports reporter for GMA 7, is the longest-serving PBL commissioner and has been at the helm from 2000 until his resignation. He steered the league during its hardest moments. The PBL board is now searching for a new commissioner and Trinidad has asked league officials to be open minded in their quest to name a new person to replace him. Trinidad advised the PBL board to widen its search since there might be applicants who have a better view on how to run the league. He also said the board should allow the applicants to speak freely about their plans. "The next PBL commissioner must have a grasp of the current situation in the league. He should be ready to run the show since the next conference may open by the second week of April," said Trinidad.
"But at the same time, he should have solutions to plug some holes such as television coverage and in keeping the number of teams to its maximum number." Trinidad added that PBL executive director Butch Maniego should stay in order to guide the incoming commissioner on the league’s current set-up or until his new plans are applied. "I would like to thank the PBL for allowing me the chance to be part of the league. It was through the league that I gained and develop my management skills that have helped me reach my current status. I will continue to be of help to the league until they find a new commissioner," said Trinidad. – GMANews.TV
