Freeman back for Philippine Patriots

Gabe Freeman is coming back to help the Philippine Patriots’ title-retention bid in the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) Season 2. Freeman, the former San Miguel import in the Philippine Basketball Association, is arriving next week in time for the Patriots’ game against the Singapore Slingers on December 18 at the Ynares Sports Arena. The 6-foot-5 Freeman helped the Patriots win the inaugural championship by sweeping Indonesia’s Satria Muda BritAma in their best-of-five title series. He will replace Hashiem Wright, who scored 21 points in the Patriots’ 73-71 win over the Kuala Lumpur Dragons. Wright also did well offensively for the PHL 5 in their past games, but a hamstring injury three weeks ago rendered him ineffective defensively. "He's (Wright) a nice fellow but we need to tighten up our defensive alignment, that's why we’re bringing back Gabe," said Patriots team manager Erick Arejola. In his last stint with the Beermen, Freeman had per game averages of 23 points. 15.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists. – JVP/KY, GMANews.TV
