Rookie pro Tabuena seeks 1st title in Clearwater Masters
Miguel Tabuena seeks his first win since turning pro early this year when he headlines the 2011 Clearwater Masters of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) in Batu Gajah, in Perak state, Malaysia. The 16-year-old Asian Games silver medalist will also be aiming for the $75,000 top prize in the development tour's second event set at the Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort on April 28-May 1. Tabuena, in his maiden tournament, finished tied for 30th place in the SAIL Open. He recently ended up tied for 27th spot in the Indonesian Masters, his best finish that earned him a pay of $7,087.50. "I'm moving forward. That's the beauty when you are starting. There's no other way but up and improve in each tournament," said the many-time former amateur champion. The highly-rated teener, though, will have his hands full as he competes with other rookies plus the reigning ADT Order of Merit champion S. Siva Chandhran of Malaysia. The top three players on the ADT Order of Merit at the end of the season will earn Asian Tour cards for 2012. - Adrian Flores, JVP, GMA News
