Talk 'N Text guard Jimmy Alapag and Barangay Ginebra's Nate Brumfield were named as the best individual players of the PBA Commissioner's Cup. The 5-foot-9 guard was the hand's down choice for the Best Player of the Conference award, beating Ginebra's Mark Caguioa, Alaska's Joe Devance andTalk 'N Text teammate Kelly Williams. Alapag, who is strongly being considered to join the Pilipinas-Smart Gilas team, garnered 1,026 points. He won after getting 504 and 150 points each from the media votes and the PBA. Caguioa, who won on the players' votes, came in next with 956 points, while De Vance, an early candidate for the top individual conference award, placed third with 444 points. Williams, the Tropang Texters' do-it-all forward, received 375 points. Brumfield was also the runaway winner for the Best Import of the Conference race. He compiled a total of 1,499 points, beating closest pursuer Paul Harris (1,022) of Talk 'N Text. - Rey Joble, JVP, GMA News
