Flying V cagefest: La Salle takes on NU, Mapua faces UE

Idle for a month, La Salle plunges back to action Wednesday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup and takes on National University at The Arena in San Juan. The Green Archers face the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. in their first game after their training in Chicago in preparation for the UAAP season. Prior to the break, the Green Archers lost to defending champion San Sebastian College, 88-81, last April 27, to drop to 1-2 for sixth place. The team, though, remains in contention for a quarterfinals berth. The Bulldogs are in third spot with a 4-2 win-loss slate, but they are also coming off a long break since losing 71-66 against Ateneo. NU looks to improve its card to close in on Group A leaders San Sebastian and Ateneo (5-1). In the first game, Mapua and University of the East clash at 2 p.m. The Cardinals lost to Adamson, 66-60, last Saturday, to slide down to fourth position with a 3-2 win-loss card. Like the Cardinals, the Red Warriors are coming off a loss against University of the Philippines (78-76). The Recto-based dribblers absorbed their fourth setback in seven matches as they skidded to fifth place.
