UE places 3rd in Asian University cage meet
University of the East demolished host Malaysia, 85-67 to finish third in the recently concluded 8th Asian University Basketball Championships at the Bintulu Municipal Stadium in Sarawak, Malaysia. Paul Zamar, the son of former UE coach and Red Warrior David, scored 20 points and fired two three-pointers in the third quarter that started UEâs breakaway. Adrian Santos, Benjamin Zosa and John Michael Noble added 18, 11 and 10 each for the Red Warriors, who avenged their elimination round loss to the Malaysians. Chinaâs Guangdong University crushed National Taiwan University of Arts, 95-66, in the finals. Twins Ren Jun Fei and Ren Jun Wei teamed up with 6-foot-9 Li Yuan Yu and 6-foot-11 Da Lai Wu in scoring a total of 53 points to lead the Chinese in their dominating performance against the Taiwanese. â JVP, GMA News
