Stefhon Hannah finally showed the stuff he's made of, steering B-MEG to a resounding 104-92 win over Meralco Sunday night in the PBA Governors Cup at The Arena in San Juan City. Held scoreless in the first two quarters, the unassuming import suddenly exploded for 23 points in the second half and led the Llamados' mop-up job in the stretch, especially when star player James Yap was whistled for his sixth foul in the 2:42 mark of the match. The Llamados were protecting a slim 94-89 lead when Yap hit the showers. But Hannah's two free throws in the final two minutes gave B-MEG a 98-91 cushion to secure the Llamados' second win in four outings. Yap had a team-high 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Llamados, including a 4-of-5 stint from beyond the arc. "I trust my teammates, I have no worries when I fouled out," said the two-time MVP Yap in Filipino. Yap's back-to-back baskets pushed B-MEG's lead to 67-56, its biggest in the game, with four minutes remaining in the third period. The Bolts, however, found their second wind behind Sol Mercado whose strong drive to the hoop in the final 3:55 of the tightly-fought ballgame cut the Llamados' lead to 90-87. Peter June Simon and Hannah promptly answered back for the Llamados to make it 94-87. Champ Oguchi had 27 points to show the way for Meralco, while Mercado added 23 and Gabby Espinas had 19. It was the Bolts' second straight lossafter winning their first two games in the conference. - JVP, GMA News
