PHL U16 team trounces Singapore to sweep SEABA tilt

The Energen-Pilipinas Under-16 men's team trounced Singapore, 70-52, to complete a four-game sweep of the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) U16 qualifying championships. The Philippines posted an average winning margin of 38 points against its opponents to earn a berth in the FIBA Under 16 Men's Championships in Vietnam in October. Host Malaysia and Indonesia also earned spots in the tournament. The Philippines, coached by Olsen Racela, also scored lopsided wins over Malaysia (91-64), Indonesia (109-46) and Laos (101-57). San Beda Red Cub Arvin Tolentino and Christopher Angelo Vito scored 13 points each to lead the Nationals, who only shot 31 percent (27-of-88) in the game, to victory. Singapore went on a 19-of-66 shooting for a 29 percent clip. - JVP, GMA News
