Filipina Athens Olympian Ma. Antoinette Rivero was relegated to a silver medal finish in the 67-kilogram division of the taekwondo event ay the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. She was defeated by South Korea's Hwang Khung Seon, who got the gold medal. The Filipina entered the championship match with wins against Liya Nurkina of Kazakhstan, 6-1, in the quarterfinals and Bui Thu Nien of Vietnam, 2-1, in the semifinals. Actually, it was only Rivero who scored against the mighty Korean who reached the finals through a 7-0 win against Rasha Sadaga of Jordan and 4-0 victory over Jiang Ling Ling of China. And there was no question Hwang was the better fighter as she took home the gold with with a 6-1 win over Rivero. Still, Rivero's silver finish is currently the best among the Filipino jins and athletes. Veronica Domingo and Kathleen Eunice Alora both salvaged bronze medal finishes in the women's 63 and 47-kilogram divisions. As the taekwondo event enters its last day on Sunday at the Qatar Sports Club Indoor Hall, Kristie Alora will try to enter the quarterfinals in the 59-kilogram category against Takhmina Khojaeva of Tajikistan. - GMANews.TV
