Amit ousts defending Women's World 10-Ball champ Ouschan
Rubilen Amit formally clinched a spot in the 2011 Women's World 10-Ball Championship knockout phase upsetting defending champion Jasmin Ouschan of Austria, 6-2, at the Robinsons Galleria. Amit began to pull away after Ouschan scratched while trying to sink the 10 ball in the third rack to break a 1-1 tie. The 30-year-old Pinay bet never looked back in defeating the Austrian. "Who would have thought that she will miss that shot," said Amit after the game. "She would made that if she attempts it again." "I think I played better (Thursday). She (Ouschan) was not lucky so I took advantage," added Amit, who split her Thursday matches. Ouschan dropped her first match of the tournament but nevertheless gained entry in the next phase after a similar 4-1 win-loss card. Meanwhile, Iris Ranola suffered a 6-5 loss to Russian Anastacia Necheava to drop her second match in the tournament. Ranola could not recover from a 3-0 start by the Russian despite forcing hill-hill. Necheava sank the last three balls of the match to seal the victory. â Reuben Terrado/JVP, GMA News
