Emilio Aguinaldo College continued its giant killing ways in the 87th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament humbling Letran College, 25-27, 25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 21-19, at the latter’s home court in Intramuros.   EAC, which opened its season with an upset win over four-time finalist College of Saint Benilde, won its second straight game to join San Beda College and University of Perpetual Help for the early lead.   The Lady Generals’ Charmille Belleza demolished the Lady Knights’ net defense as she scored EAC’s last five points in the fourth frame that forced the deciding set.   EAC setter Anabelle Dionela then opened the fifth with three straight service aces followed by Arianna Angustia’s drop shot while Letran’s Melissa Cu committed an error that gave the Lady Generals a 5-0 advantage.   Egged-on by the pro-Letran crowd, Manelle Carolina joined hands with Rikka Villas and Gena Keesia Andaya to tie the game at 9-all.   Both teams battled toe-to-toe the entire fifth set until Belleza moved EAC to match-point with a hit. An Andaya error sealed the win for the Lady Generals.   Earlier in the juniors division, the EAC Brigadiers downed Letran Squires, 25-13, 17-25, 25-13, 25-19 to join the San Sebastian Staglets on top of the standings (2-0).   The loss dropped the Squires at the cellar with the San Beda Red Cubs. — JVP, GMA News
